Notes

Self funded students:

  • A non-refundable deposit of £150 is required to secure your enrolment, after you have accepted an offer (this amount deducted from course fees and is subject to 14-day cooling off period). You will be sent instructions on how to make this payment after you accept an offer. Until you have paid this deposit, your enrolment is not secured on your chosen course.
  • An invoice will be sent to you when you have enrolled which will specify your course fee payment dates and will provide instructions on how to make payment. When you are enrolled, you will be sent automatic reminders when payments are due or the payment deadline has passed.
  • On SLK, SLS and the GDL, If you have opted to pay by instalments, your first instalment will typically be payable 14 days prior to your course start date. The second instalment is payable at the halfway point of your chosen course.
  • On the LLM programme, your first instalment will be due in the first week of the programme, aligned to your Masters Loan payment schedule.
  •

Please note that if you are enrolling late, after the course closing date (less than 14 days before the course starts), your deposit and first instalment will typically be required at the point of accepting your offer.

Masters Loan:

  • Students who are enrolled on the LLM in Legal Practice (full-time or part-time) may be eligible for a Masters Loan. Students can check whether they are eligible for this loan here.
  • Our LLM in Legal Practice is costed so that students using the loan in England and Wales can cover both their course fees and the cost of the SQE assessments. It is the responsibility of each student to manage their own finances when planning when they will sit the SQE assessments alongside paying course fees.
  • The amount that you will receive through a Masters Loan will depend where you are located. The funding is different is you live in England, Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
  • If you are eligible for a Masters Loan, this will be sent to you and it is your responsibility to use this to pay the College course fees. This is different if you are based in Scotland; if you are using funding through the Students Awards Agency Scotland, your fees will be paid directly to the College (you may be required to pay contribution towards fees).
  • If you are using a Masters Loan to pay your LLM fees, you cannot apply for Accreditation of Prior Learning; you must sit all LLM modules in the defined programme pathway.
  • You can get extra support if you have a disability through Disabled Students Allowance.

Employer or Sponsor Funded Students:

Within the application form, you can specify that you are being funded by an employer or sponsor. If you are, you can share details with the College, so that your course fees invoice is shared with your employer or sponsor, rather than you.

  • If you have a corporate code from your employer, please ensure that this is included in your application form so that your fees are accurately discounted.
  • When you are funded by an employer or sponsor, the full course fee is due within 30 days of accepting your offer and the invoice being sent to your employer or sponsor.
  • Please note that if you are employer-funded and your employer fails to pay your fees, you will be subject to withdrawal from your course, as articulated in the Student Terms and Conditions. The College will communicate with you directly before this happens.

The Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) Discount:

If you are a GDL student with The College of Legal Practice, you are eligible to receive a 10% discount on the course fees for subsequent study at the College, including Solicitors Legal Knowledge (SQE1 preparation), Solicitors Legal Skills (SQE2 preparation) and the LLM in Legal Practice.

You can specify the GDL Alumni discount code within your application for SQE preparation or the LLM. To continue to be eligible for this discount you must meet the following criteria:

  • Complete the Graduate Diploma in Law (you can apply for your next course in advance of completing the GDL, but your discount will only be upheld if you do complete the GDL).
  • Pay the Course Fees for the Graduate Diploma in Law in line with the Fee Schedule.
  • Adhere to the College’s Student Terms and Conditions

Please note this discount does not entitle you to a place on subsequent courses. You will need to apply separately for additional courses and meet the admissions criteria applicable to those courses. If you are unsure if you meet the criteria, or have any questions please speak to the Student Services team.

General notes:

  • Course fees are reviewed annually.
  • Course fees include the cost of tuition, access to Canvas, hard-copy materials, (for GDL, LLM and SLK students) and access to legal databases (for GDL and LLM students).
  • Course fees do not include Law Drills access, which can be purchased separately.
  • If you are studying on the SLS course (SQE2 preparation) and you wish to purchase printed materials from the SLK (SQE1 preparation) course, the Student Services Team can provide you with a cost for provision of materials and delivery. This is not included in your SLS fee.
  • Course fees are the same for UK and international students. However, please note that if you are based outside of the UK and wish to receive hard-copy materials, you will be asked to contribute towards the cost of international postage.
  • Course fees do not include the cost of SQE assessments which will need to be booked and paid for through the SRA.
  • The College offers an “additional access” scheme to students who have completed their SQE preparation with us and require an additional period of access to Canvas, after their course has ended and the continued access period has expired. If you require additional access, you should contact Student Services who can provide you with a quote and payment instructions.

Important: Course fee liability:

Each student is liable for fee payments in line with the instalment schedule communicated to them upon enrolment, within their course fees invoice.

Non-payment of fees can result in withdrawal or withholding of results/ certificates.

Students who have unpaid fees owing to the College will be required to clear these before they are permitted to re-enrol.

All instalments are non-refundable after the instalment due date has passed:

  • If a student pays an instalment prior to the payment due date, they can claim a refund of this fee up until the original instalment due date.
  • If a student pays for their course in full and later decides to cancel, they can receive a refund for any payments not yet due as per the instalment schedule.
