Application faqs

Will I get a confirmation email that my application has been received?

Yes, please check your junk folder if you haven’t received this.

When will I get a response for my application?

All applications will be processed within two weeks. During that period, you may receive an offer, or if we require more information from you, you will be contacted to request additional detail or documentation

Can I change my course after I’ve applied?

You are able to change the intake you wish to study on up until the course start date, however, if you request a change after the course has started, a fee will be payable to facilitate the change. Please read our Student T&Cs in full to understand when you will be able to change intakes and the fees payable.

In my application, I can’t attach the evidence for my qualifications, what should I do?

If you are experiencing difficulties uploading a document, please email the evidence to Student Services at studentsupport@collegalpractice.com. They will assist with attaching it so that you can complete your application.

I’m studying the LLM in Legal Practice - when do I apply for my post-graduate loan from Student Finance?

We would encourage you to apply for the postgraduate loan as soon as you can, to ensure that this is in place when your programme begins. We will confirm registrations on the LLM in the week prior to the LLM start date.

How do I apply for accreditation of prior learning?

Please fill out this form and attach it to your application. When applying for APL, you should provide accompanying evidence. Your application will then be considered by a member of the Academic Team.

Why isn’t the course start date showing on my application?

Add a date prior to the course start date for the option to become available.

Why isn’t the SQE1 or SQE2 preparation course showing as available?

In the list of modules please search for either:
  • Solicitors Legal Knowledge: The SQE1 preparation course
  • Solicitors Legal Skills: the SQE2 preparation course

If I apply early, can I have earlier access to the materials?

No, you will have access your course on the the online learning portal one week prior to the course starting. However, once a deposit is paid and your initial enrolment is complete those studying SQE1, SQE2 and LLM will receive a pre-course starter pack. This pack includes some pre course learning for your SQE1 or SQE2 preparation.

How and when will I pay my fees?

If you have received an offer to study at the College and you have accepted the offer, you will be sent a link to make payment for the deposit to secure your place. Once the deposit is paid, you will be enrolled and sent an invoice detailing all future payments, with instructions on how to make payment.

Do I have to apply for my SQE1 and SQE2 preparation courses at the same time?

No, you can wait until you’ve passed the SQE1 to apply for the SQE2 preparation course if you’d prefer.

Can I apply for the SQE2 preparation course before I have my SQE1 results?

Our recommendation is to apply for a course which starts after the release of your SQE1 results (5-6 weeks after your SQE1 assessment takes place), or apply after you have your SQE1 results.

The SRA requires you to have passed SQE1 before you can book your SQE2 assessment (unless you have an exemption from SQE1). We recommend therefore that students only apply for this course if, by the time it starts:

  • You will have the results from your SQE1 assessment
  • You will have an exemption for SQE1 agreed by the SRA

Additionally, if you do not pass SQE1 and you have already started your SQE2 preparation course with the College, there is some flexibility during the first four weeks to transfer to another later course, but there is a cost to facilitate this in line with the Student Terms & Conditions
